Willing is not enough; we must do.  | Those who choose nursing as their career have to be hard-working and compassionate individuals who want to help and care for others in need. Going into this profession I feel that a nurse needs to be optimistic, be a leader, and a lifetime learner. I believe it is important to get to know your patients and not just classify them as the disease or condition they might have, because they are much more than that. I choose to treat all my patients as if they were my own family; the way I would want my family or the people I love to be cared for. It is important to collaborate with all members of the healthcare team and always engage in communication with the patient's family. Nurses need many qualities including patience, responsibility, honesty, empathy, effective communication skills, trustworthiness, and a positive attitude. I am very enthusiastic about my own nursing career and dedicated to provide safe quality care to all of my patients. |
